“No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it” – Einstein
For your health, fitness and general well-being
The Alexander Technique has been taught in England since 1904, is part of the Pain Management programme in Kingston Hospital and is on the syllabus at many drama and music colleges throughout the world. It is used by many horse riders and dancers too.
On 23 August 2008 the results of a clinical trial were published in the British Medical Journal ("Randomised controlled trial of Alexander Technique lessons, exercise and massage (ATEAM) for chronic and recurrent back pain") in which it was shown that "24 lessons provided significant and important benefit" and "Exercise and lessons in the Alexander Technique ...remained effective at one year". Extracts from the British Medical Journal were printed in newspaper and journals throughout the world
Old Patterns and Lack of Harmony – changing the consciousness
Generally the way we use our bodies is according to an old set of habits which are no longer appropriate to our present activities. Lack of harmony in our body may be caused by accident or illness, sporting activity, playing a musical instrument, working at a computer among other things. Most people think that carrying out a sporting activity will make them fit. This is far from the case – for instance, doing the breast stroke with your head out of the water is very harmful to the spine. Lessons in the Alexander Technique can free you from many outdated and harmful habits.
